As part of our structures topic, I invited Mrs Elmore into our room to learn more about 'Harakeke' - flax. She first took us through the history and protocol around working with flax and then went into the gully to cut some flax to make our pretty flowers. It was tough going. The children were quick to decide that using paper, straws, sticks, lego etc to make structures was a whole lot easier!
Cate made this all by herself and then went on to help a lot of other children - way to go Cate!
