Paper Structure project

As part of our structures topic this term, the children have been learning that there are two elements in every structure, compression (squashing), and tension (stretching). Now, as part of our work with Andy's Dad (Geoff Pitts), the children had a structure project to complete at home.

Objective: Hold as much weight as possible on top of the structure

Rules: Use only 5 sheets of A3 paper, clear sellotape or stapes for fixing, make as many cuts and folds as you want and columns need to be at least 20cm tall.

The Paper Structure Competition begins!

The winners are announced!

These are the winners for creativity!

These are the winners for the structures which held the most weight!

Room 34 was the winner for the combined weight total of 250kg's!!

A huge thank you must go to Geoff Pitts for his time and his enthusiasm for this project!
